Frequently Asked QuestionsWe always receive many questions about our program. They range from a son or daughter who's struggling with a math process, or if our programs are compatible with children who have learning differences, or if it's compatible with various computer systems or some just basically ask us how they can get started? Here's some FAQ we've received. If you have any questions you would like us to add to our FAQ list, please send us an e-mail.

Where Do I Start?
If your student is 11 years old or older, you can look at the numbers of the modules and they should tell you what grade they are geared for. For example: 6/1-6/4 are the modules that make up Level 6, 7/1-7/4 are Level 7, etc. Your student may not be ready for the material at the higher grades because they might be missing the foundation laid in the earlier modules, which is not taught in most other curricula. In this case, click on a module that you may be interested in. You will see a link to the final test, as well as the answers for that test. Print it and give your student the test to see if they already know the material. From here, you can proceed to earlier or later modules to find the place you would like them to start.
Is Your Program Compatible with MAC Computers?
Yes. All of the printed material comes in PDF format and should work on any computer that has Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. If your computer doesn’t have the reader, you can download it from http://www.adobe.com/ .
Do You Have a Geometry Course?
We do not have a full geometry course, but we do have three modules that cover lots of practical, applied geometry. These modules are "Shapes & Sizes", "Shapes & Dimensions", and "What’s Your Angle". These could be combined for high school geometry if practical, everyday geometry meets your student's needs.
My Son is in the 8th Grade and doesn't know the Multiple Facts. What do I do?
There may be several reasons for him not knowing his basic facts. It could be his inability to memorize. It could be that he fell farther and farther behind, and decided that failure at this level is better than continuing to fail farther along in math, so there is no real interest in his actually learning these facts now. Paul ran across this with a student, and recommended that the parent go ahead and start him on Labeled Quantities to see if he would learn from listening to the DVDs. The report came back from the mother that he was learning his facts as he did the rest of the material.
Does your Program work for Children with Learning Differences?
This program was not developed for children with learning differences in mind, but the reports we have received seem to indicate that many do very well with it. It is something that needs to be evaluated by each unique situation. That is one reason that we have the money back guarantee. We don’t want anyone to keep the material if they don’t like it, or if they don’t think it is working for them. It is then just a waste of money, and no one needs that.
The following letter is from a young man with Asperger's disorder
"I really like systematic mathematics. I can really understand all the mathematical concepts very well because watching the DVD and seeing him writing on the chalkboard makes it really easy to understand the concepts. And after I am done watching the DVD when I do the worksheet it is just a piece of cake to do. I really enjoy using systematic mathematics because all the other math curriculums just put to many different concepts together and it’s hard to understand them each individually." - J.Jay Berthume, Age 11
This e-mail deals with Dyslexia
"I looked up your website and asked my very dyslexic husband whether he thought the Saxon or the Systematic Math would be better for our very dyslexic sons. His immediate response was, "this (meaning the Saxon) gives me a headache. There are so many problems on each page. This other one (meaning your Systematic Math) is what they need. It applies to everyday life." I ordered right away and have reviewed your program and was absolutely stunned when I came to lesson 8 of the 6th grade math and realized I'd never been taught how to divide hours and minutes and seconds in the same problem. You made it sooooo simple. Although I enjoyed math in school, I am looking forward to learning the math I never learned!! You know they say homeschooling is for the parents. :) Thank you," - L.R.
